(RET) its heartfelt congratulations on his much-deserved retirement. Testa, who has served in an ‘Of Counsel’ role for the firm for 10 years, is one of Southern Jersey’s most renowned family law experts, spending his tenure on both sides of the bench as both an attorney and a judge.
Testa is a retired U.S. Army Colonel and in addition to his years of service as a judge and lawyer, most recently with the Cumberland County Superior Court where he spent 14 years in the Family Division, Testa also worked as a professor and legal instructor at the prestigious United States Military Academy at West Point and as an associate professor at Rutgers University School of Law.
Prior to retirement from his military career, Testa was recognized for his outstanding service, including receiving the prestigious Meritorious Service Medal twice (1995, 1992) and the U.S. Army Commendation Medal three times (1973, 1982, 1987). He has also been published in such esteemed publications as National Trial Lawyer Magazine, New Jersey Trial Magazine and more and invited to speak at elite industry venues including the Judicial College and the NJ Institute for Continuing Legal Education.
However, according to many of his contemporaries, his most significant achievement was establishing the groundbreaking Kids Count program in 1997 in Cumberland County to help children cope with separation and divorce by expressing their feelings through art and writing.
